Mad about blankets
Throws, rugs.....call them what you like but basically, aren't blankets brilliant! Originally created for cuddling into, no home is complete without at least one cast over furniture or rolled up ready for a rest. Of course blankets are not just bound to bricks and mortar, for they make exceptional picnic and outdoor dining bedfellows too. Cue this cosy cutie from Wool Me. Wool to the core and yet sumptuously soft, these throws are crafted in traditional mills from raw fleece to create the designs' signature striped pattern. My personal favourites are the stylish grey colourways with their striking hit of turquoise. I guess with picnic weather just on the horizon, I'd better be sure to get one rolled and at the ready!
You can never have enough kitchen linens. Well so say I!! So, as Spring makes it's return, it was lovely to find this new seasonally spot-on, Bumblebee range from Pastel Lane. Featuring a modern take on the humble bumble, this simply patterned range is printed on cotton in a soft blue shade and comes as kitchen staples such as oven gloves, aprons and teacloths as well as tabletop enhancing napkins and runners.....to name a but a few. And, the best bit, every item purchased from the collection helps fund the fab work done by the Bumblebee Conservation Trust. Go buzz off and buy....!!
How often do you say 'where', 'what with' and 'how many' when tackling the problem of home lighting. So it's jolly lucky that illumination experts Pooky are at hand to shed light on the matter. Offering a vaste choice of versatile lighting they've gone with the perfect pairing approach, matching pedants with task styles. Throwing open the creative door to the choice process now you can mix materials and finishes including etched glass, colour-popping cloth, or polished and distressed metal. No longer restricted to middle of the room positions either, their pendants look at their best near tabletop styles and not only offer controlled illumination but really set the mood of the room. Talk about getting style with substance at a flick of a switch.
Bring Swedish taste to the table this Spring with this lovely new colour-popped range of ceramics from Oliver Bonas. The Fika Collection, inspired by the Scandinavian culture of coffee time, draws together pretty palettes and patterns to add a delightful 'make-you-smile' style from morning's breakfast time to the end of the day supper.
I love finding a new decorating collection, especially when it comes from a new designer, and even better when they are British. Introducing then, the fresh-off-the-roll Hermitage Collection by talented Charlotte Gaisford. Based on handpainted vintage papers discovered in an old house near Hexham in Northumberland, the fabric and wallpaper designs are bright, bold and beautiful. Carefully coloured in a contemporary palette, favourite florals, foliage and pictorial patterns grace the finished fabric and papers in mesmorising repeats. And if the design lengths are not enough for you, Charlotte has only gone and made them to buy as cushions and lamps too. Gorgeous!!
As we step from winter into spring why not inject a little striped style into your home. The Linen Works new collection of everyday linens, mops up the seasonal gap with these gorgeous ‘must-have’ home staples. Cushions, cloths, runners and towels - I love how the collections are so effortlessly easy on the eye and give a relaxed touch to whatever your home style setting. Perfect for creating coastal, country, shabby, classic, rustic......need I go on.....looks. Very clever TLW!!
If you're missing the lush looks of nature during the midwinter months then you might just want to take a look at Blendworth's new print collection, Mystical. Inspired by enchanted forests, leafy tree canopies and gorgeous garden scenes the collection features birds, butterflies and mini-beasts fluttering amongst beautifully drawn and vividly coloured flowers and foliage. The elegant design of Menagerie is my particular favourite and I love how it has been used to head the bedstead in this exquisite bedroom scheme. What a treat to wake up to in the morning!
Warm as toast
With the new nip in the air my thoughts turn to cranking up the cosy factor. Extra blankets, snug slippers and warming drinks are a given, but right up there on my hot list is a warming fire. Time to turn to my fireside hero Morsø, not only makers of the finest stoves (ticking that toasty box), but they do it in such a stylish manner too. One of my favourite designs is this one which marries style and practicality in one snazzy swoop. Featuring side glass panels and lower log storage it ensures fire-making and flame-watching are an effortless joy.

Is it me or has the weather changed meaning those first frosts are just around the corner. Rather than getting the chills, why not warm to the changing season and colour palettes that come with it. I love the latest fabrics from Peony & Sage which feature delicately drawn and printed vintage style patterns, shaded to mirror wintery frosts and flurries - there's even a snowflake design. Soooooo pretty!
