Simple Scandi Christmas style
So here it is.....Christmas is here once more and unless you've hibernated way too soon, Scandi looks are here big time for the 12 days and more of the festive season seen from room style and tree decor to gifting and lights. We all loved it last year, and even more so this time around, but what makes it different is the elegance, slim lines and simplicity of how Scandinavian design makes and drapes itself in the interior world. Sure, the rough and tumble of fur and fringing are here again, but so are de-luxe smooth felts and clipped wools, keeping chills at bay in a much more refined and softer silhouetted shape. Furniture uses naturally found materials, but is crafted into sculptural shapes using artisan techniques. Surface textures are polished and cool or smooth and chalky, with sanded stone and marble lending a clean finish to walls and floors. One of my retail hero's doing it so well this year is Cox & Cox. Masters of the 'must buys', their home fashions and accessories have shown this year that whilst we all still wonder at rustic wood huts, a luxurious lodge ticks the style box today.
